Dry spells and the military siege during the Middle Ages were the reasons for building the city’s tanks. On January 10, 1446, Šibenik authorities and the master Jakov Coterra signed a contract on the construction of a water supply facility called the 4 Wells. It is located on a plateau, in the centre of Šibenik, not far from the Cathedral of St. James. The water supply centre had been abandoned and was recently completely renovated. Today it is used as the city stage. It can hold hundreds of people. Various events, concerts, shows and performances are held there.
