- About Caska
Caska, former Roman Cissa, has only a few inhabitants today. During Roman times Cissa was very developed and rich. This is evidenced by numerous remains from that period. According to a legend, due to high corruption and arrogance of the people, God destroyed Cissa by sending a fiery orb. Among the ruins from ancient Roman times there is the Church of St. Ante from the Middle Ages, while on the hill St. Juraj above Caska are the ruins of the church of the same name, which dates from the 14th century. Besides the late Romanesque church, on the hill is also a Byzantine fortress with a church dating from the 6th century. After the church was destroyed in the 7th century residents built a new pre-Romanesque church.
