- About Malinska
Malinska is situated in a wooded bay on the west side of the island of Krk, and it, along with another twenty surrounding villages, belongs to Dubašnica. The first visitors of Malinska were Austrian and Hungarian aristocrats who started coming here in 1880, in the winter, to hunt woodcock and other game birds. The name of Malinska dates back to the 15th century and comes from the word mlin (malin) meaning mill. Most of the monuments of cultural and historical heritage make religious buildings, notably the complex from 1480. It consists of the church of St. Mary Magdalene, the Franciscan monastery and the museum with rarity exhibits and a Glagolitic lapidary. The crystal clear sea and numerous attractive beaches allow enjoying the sea and the sun. The Rupa beach was awarded the Blue Flag for its quality and beach equipment.
