- About Sveti Jakov
In the northern part of Lošinj lies the fishing village of St. Jacob, which is also the smallest settlement on the island. St. Jacob lies between two bays. The first, where the port is, is called Studenac. There are two churches in the village – the church of St. Jacob and the parish church of St. Mary. The church of St. Jacob is a Romanesque church with an apse. It was consecrated in 1624 and the date was carved in Glagolitic letters on a marble plaque. The parish church of St. Mary was built in the 19th century. On its main altar there is a painting from the 19th century depicting Our Lady of the Rosary with St. Catherine of Siena, St. Jacob and St. Dominic.
