As a state museum, Archaeological Museum has a jurisdiction over areas of Zadar County and the islands of Rab and Pag. There are several departments that work as part of the museum: prehistoric, ancient, medieval archaeology, modern age, underwater archaeological research department, department of pedagogical and andragogical activity, conservation and restoration department, library and the Museum of Nin Antiquities. The museum thus houses more than 100 000 different archaeological objects belonging to all cultural and historical periods,starting from the Paleolithic till the end of 11th century. Museum’s regular activities include performing various research excavations, protecting and presenting new archaeological materials, organizing or hosting exhibitions, and publishing annual called Diadora. The museum is particularly proud of their production of archaeological copies and different plaster, glass, stone and metal pottery replicas.
