- Bačvice Beach
Located in the city center, near the city port, Bačvice is an unique shallow sandy beach. The beach is about 600 meters long and can hold the capacity of up to ten thousand bathers. The beach is also known for the making of the authentic sport picigin (water volleyball) around 1923, which has become a protected immaterial good in 2003. The World Cup in water volleyball is annually held in Split. Over time, picigin spread to other coastal towns, where local, alternate versions developed. On Bačvice, picigin is played in the summer and winter.
