The small town Baderna is located 13 km east from Poreč and 19 km southwest from Pazin. Baderna has been inhabited since the Roman times, and the Middle Ages (in the 14th century) it was abandoned due to epidemics. In 1541 it was settled by immigrants from Dalmatia, western Bosnia and the Bay of Kotor. Because of its location, it was often between “two fires”, Venetians and Tinjans. In Baderna you can find the church of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was built in the 16th century, and which was decorated and upgraded in 1843 and 1878, and for which a separate bell tower was built in 1827.
