Bartol Kašić Monument
Bartol Kašić is a famous Croatian linguist, Jesuit and writer who had written numerous literary works. He was ordained in 1606, and already in 1609 went to the mission. He studied grammar, preaching and missions. On account of the Pope, he goes on a mission in the eastern regions which were under the Turks, like Vukovar, Osijek, Srijem, Valpovo, Timisoara and others. He was active in Dubrovnik, Loreto and Rome, where he died. He published many religious works, catechisms, spiritual tragedy, and he also began to translate the Bible into the Croatian language.
