Part of the Tisno municipality, Betina is located on the north-eastern coast of Murter. Its name derives from the Celtic word “bet”, meaning the mouth, so the village was often referred to as the “mouth of Šibenik region”. It was built at the foot of Cape Artić and is surely one of the most beautiful places on the Adriatic. It was declared a cultural monument because of its beauty. The most notable landmarks are the church of St. Francis of Assisi, Plitka Vala, remains of the Roman settlement of Colentum, the remains of the Franciscan monastery and others. Betina and Korčula are the oldest and most famous places of world-class shipbuilding. Betina is known for its attractive beaches with clear waters, such as Kosirina, Plitka Vala, Bisage and others.
