The Bettica Palace and Museum
The palace, which dates from the 14th century, became the property of the rich and powerful Bettica family in the 16th century. The ground floor of this medieval palace contains the archaeological findings discovered around Guran in the church of St. Simon, a three-nave basilica, in the church of St. Cecilia and St. Severina dating from the early Middle Ages. The first floor is rich in important collection of paintings which Gaetano Gresler took from Venice and donated them to the town of Vodnjan in 1818. The paintings date from the 17th and 18th century, and represent portraits, battle scenes and still life. The second floor tells the story of the palace history, which is soon to become the Museum of the City of Vodnjan.
