- Chapel of St. Lucy
Chapel of St. Lucy
The mausoleum crypt was turned into the Chapel of St. Lucy in the Middle Ages. Inside the crypt there is an altar dedicated to St. Lucy, patron saint of patients with eye diseases, and a well with holy water in it. This water is used to cure the visitors’ eyes with the help of the patron of sight. The crypt is circular with rectangular niches and has a vaulted dome. It is situated below the sanctuary. It can be accessed from the southeast through a narrow corridor and an old entrance.
