The old town of Buzet is situated in the northernmost part of inner Istria, in the central area between Rijeka, Pula and Trieste, on the hills overlooking the Mirna river valley. Buzet is also known as the “City of Truffles” since it is situated in an area rich in this highly prized underground fungi. It is also the most important town in Buzeština. Buzet and its area have been inhabited since ancient times and many remnants of prehistoric stone objects have been preserved. Illyrian tribes inhabited these areas in the Bronze Age when they began to build hilltop settlements surrounded by walls. Buzet is the perfect place for everyone because in the Mirna valley prevails the mild Mediterranean climate, while the in part of Ćićarija prevails the mountain climate. A thermal resort is located in the valley of the Mirna River and it is a place where everyone can relax and enjoy. For those looking forward to spending some time in nature, “the roof of Istria” offers a holiday in the pastures, forests and grassy areas.
