- Forum Square
The main square of ancient Pula – the Forum is located in the heart of the old town. The construction of the first building began in the 1st century BC, and it was designed during Emperor Augustus. The square was surrounded by porches, and surrounding them were the buildings of the judiciary, economy, and administration system. The northern part consisted of the central temple and two side temples. The central temple was the temple of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva; the Capitoline Triad. Of one side temple, only the back wall is visible today, while the other – the Temple of Augustus – remained completely preserved. Today, the Forum, in addition to the Temple of Augustus, represents the Municipal palace, various restaurants and shops and it is used for concerts, performances, folk festivals, the celebration of City Day and other events.
