Franciscan Church and Monastery
In 1650, the construction of the early Baroque style Franciscan church began. Its 54.5 meter tower is the highest tower of all Varaždin churches. The special attraction of the church is the richly decorated pulpit from the second half of the 17th century. The Franciscan monastery was built on the site of an old wooden church and hospice built by the Hospitallers during the Crusades. The Franciscans came here in the second half of the 13th century. In 1932, at the entrance to the church a bronze statue of Gregory of Nin was set, the work of the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović.
