House of Marin Držić

The House of the famous Croatian playwright Marin Držić was built in 1989 as part of the Old Town and has become an unique theater museum. The aim of the House of Marin Držić is to study and disseminate the theatrical material, either for theater professionals or for scientific research. Here you can see posters, programs and photographs of the performances of Držić’s plays in Croatia, as well as in the world. Through the collection of theatrical material, the users should be familiarized with the basics of “Držićology” and the museum should become a research center. The House of Marin Držić stands out for its exhibition, mobile and theatrical – conceptual installations which strengthen the sense of time and space in which Držić lived. Visitors get to participate in the theater by using puppets and typical stage props that surround them.
