The northern slopes of Papuk are known for the beautiful mountain valley Jankovac. It is distinguished by various streams and cold springs, and it is surrounded by beautiful beech forests. Due to its natural beauty and educational and touristic value, it became a protected forest park in 1955. Josip Janković is connected to Jankovac lakes and this valley. He was a nature lover and decided to devote himself to decorating this valley. He decorated the lakes for water supply, trout production and he built a hunting castle. His marble sarcophagus is located in the semi-cave above the lake. The forest part of the valley is decorated with ash, beech and maples trees. The valley has always been appealing to all visitors due to its freshness and the romantic atmosphere it provides.
