Juraj Dalmatinac statue
As we know today, the city Pag was built in the 15th century according to the plans of Juraj Dalmatinac, one of the largest builders in Croatian history. Juraj, originally from Zadar, worked in Venice, Šibenik, Zadar and other Dalmatian towns during the 15th century. His style belongs to the Gothic ornate style, but his later buildings have elements of the Renaissance. He participated in the construction of Šibenik’s cathedral and built the famous 74 heads that are carved around the apse. Apart from Šibenik’s cathedral, he participates in the construction of the Bishop’s Palace, the Franciscan church in Zadar and chapel in Split.
