- Juraj Šporer Pavilion
Juraj Šporer Art Pavilion
It is interesting that this area was initially a pastry shop, while today it is used for the exhibition of art, shows and concerts. The pavilion was built in 1900 for a stock company Quarnero and upgraded in 1908 to a design by architect Sandor Neuhausler who added a balcony overlooking the promenade. In the beginning, the pavilion was the Gerbaud pastry shop, after which it became the Glacier Pavilion with a coffee and a pastry shop. The pavilion was finally converted after 1930, and in 1945 it was named the Juraj Šporer Exhibition Pavillion, and later the Juraj Šporer Arts Pavillion. Juraj Matija Šporer, after which the pavilion was named, was a famous doctor who first thought of Opatija as of a health resort.
