Lakes and Waterfalls
Natural changes have affected the division of the lakes on the Gornja (Upper) and Donja (Lower) lakes. The Gornja consist of 12 lakes, which are: Prošćansko, Veliki Burget, Okrugljak, Batinovac, Ciginovac, Veliko, Malo, Gradinsko lake, Galovac, Milino Lake, Vir and Kozjak. The most prominent lake is Kozjak, the deepest and the largest lake, and Prošćansko. The Donja consist of: Lake Gavanovac, Milanovac, Novaković Brod and Kaluđerovac. The difference between the Gornja and Donja is that the Gornja are on a dolomite base surrounded by woods, and Donja are on a limestone base surrounded by vertical cliffs. Interestingly, the size, depth and shape of the lake can change with the influence of travertine.
