- Momjan castle
Momjan castle is located on a cliff which is separated from the village of Momjan by an chasm. Its original role was the role of a guard tower, while today this represents the best preserved part of the castle. It was first mentioned in documents in 1035, and the castle was built in the 13th century by Woscalc. In the 16th century, it was bought by the knight Simone Rota and turned into a home for his family. After the Rota family left the castle, it started to decay. The city was then entered via a movable wooden bridge, until the Rota family replaced it with a two-arched stone bridge. The entrance is decorated in the Renaissance style, and contains the coat of arms of the noble family. The remains of the bridge are still visible today, and in the vicinity there is Momjan where you can see other beautiful historic buildings.
