Monastery of st. Anthony the Abbot
The monastery of St. Anthony the Abbot is a Franciscan monastery on the island of Rab. It is located in the old town within the city walls. It was founded in the 15th century, by Magdalena Budrišić while fleeing from the Turks. Within the monastery there is a single nave church of St. Anthony the Abbot with a rectangular sanctuary. The church has two altars dating from the Baroque period and the cross dating from the Gothic period. Known Rab archbishop, Marin was buried inside the church. Also, the monastery has a gallery depicting the island of Rab from the 17th century. Nearby the monastery are the remains of the former chapels from the Middle Ages and a Romanesque church.
