Vukovar City Museum – Castle Eltz
Count Anselmo Kazimir Eltz had the centre part of the Baroque Eltz castle built around 1750, and the whole castle was fully built, upgraded and expanded in the early 20th century thanks to the Viennese architect Siedeka. The building is characterised by a variety of baroque and classicist details and architecture, harmonious relations and large dimensions. The Vukovar city museum was moved to Castle Eltz in 1968. During the Homeland War, Castle Eltz suffered significant damage and the collections which were kept there were also damaged. After the war, the castle and the entire building have been restored thanks to the Ministry of the Republic of Croatia and the Council of Europe.
