The New Church is one of the many churches in Šibenik that date from the transitional period between the 15th and 16th century. The New church was built of stone and has Renaissance elements. Its front is adorned with a portal with wooden doors, next to which there are two pillars adorned with Corinthian capitals, and above there are a frieze and a cornice. Nicholas of Florence has been mentioned as one of its builders. His stone sculpture the “Pieta” and relief “Removing Christ from the Cross” are carved in the lower section of the bell tower. The ceiling paintings in the church were made by local artists Bojković, Mondella, Sisanović and others. The upper wall parts are decorated with frescoes by Šibenik painters who were active in the 17th century.
