Yet another interesting building in Varaždin can be found in a small alley which leads to the famous Miljenko Stančić Square from the Ursuline Convent. There, Ivan Padovec was born, the famous Croatian composer, artist, and inventor of the guitar with two necks. He was born on July 17, 1800. Interestingly, this excellent guitarist learned to play the guitar on his own. His concerts were held in Prague, Graz, Vienna, Budapest, London and other European cities. He died in 1873 and was buried in the Varaždin cemetery. During some time, the house Padovec was inhabited by the artist Ivo Režek. Today, this important house hosts Tourist Board and the information center of Varaždin.
