Pietro de Mula Tower
Pietro de Mula Tower (the South tower)
During the Venetian rule, in 1474, a round Tower was built by the podesta Pietro de Mula as testified by a stone plaque on the south side of the Tower containing his initials and the year of completion. The Tower is located near National Square, and has had a strategic importance in the past regarding the defense against the Turks. Also, due to its specific location, it provided supervision over the sea and the land. It has a regular circular shape, but when you go inside of it, you can see the irregular passageways, corridors and loophole spaces. Today, Coffee bar Torre Rotonda is located in the Tower, which offers relaxation with a beautiful view of the harbor.
