Public Town Cistern
The cistern has a great historical value. It is located next to the parish church, behind the bell tower. It dates back from the 17th century, precisely from 1677, and it was very important for the survival at the time. Built out of stone, with a waterproof interior combined of lime, ground brick, grains of volcanic lifa and silica sand. In the history, the inhabitants of Istria used cisterns such as this in order to collect rainwater. The cisterns testify of the importance of survival on the entire coast, therefore such cisterns can also be found in urban areas such as Pula and Poreč, late antique villages and country houses in Zorna, Veli Brijuni…
