Round Renaissance fortress
This round stone Renaissance fortress dates from the Renaissance period and is located next to the Novigrad seafront. Novigrad is a city surrounded by walls which preserved its rich history to what we know today. In Novigrad, the Renaissance came to life in the 8th and lasted until the 9th century. The walls with toothed battlements were built in the mid 13th century. Along the former main gate stands the old square tower. The walls were often renewed and were later fortified by round Renaissance towers. Thanks to its towers and city walls, Novigrad is now a member of the International Walled Towns Friendship Circle (WTFC).
