- Sigurata church
Sigurata is a popular name which means church and monastery of the Christ’s Transfiguration. It is situated on Prijeko, in Dubrovnik. It is located at Od Sigurate Street. The church was bulit between 10th and 11th century in pre-Romanesque style, and belongs to the one-nave domed type of church. In the 17th century, most likely after earthquake in 1667, church is upgraded and got Baroque facade and lateral ships, so now she belongs to the three-nave type of church. The foundations of church are archaeological remains of two churches from the 7th century. The church is located on an elevated place, and near the church is a museum and female Franciscian monastery. In the 14th century, church was the center of the blacksmith and coppersmith fraternity. Furthermore, the church was center of the wool combers’ fraternity, whose patron is St. Blaise. In the 30s of the 20th centuary, the monastery is renewed and three more floors were built.
