St. Dominic’s church
Saint Dominic’s church & monastery (Dubrovnik)
Construction of the church and the monastery within the walls began in the 13th century due to its strategic location, and its final form acquired in the 14th century. In architecture intertwine various elements of Romanesque, Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance. Many local builders, such as Utišenović, Radmanović i Grubačević participated in its construction according to the plans of the Florentine master Masso di Bartolomeo. Dubrovnik’s builder, Paskoje Miličević built the sacristy which is why in gratitude he got his name inscribed on the church’s wall where he is buried. The church contains works of many famous authors, such as Vlaho Bukovac, Tizian, Lovro Dobričević, Ivo Dulčić, Nikola Božidarević and others.
