St. Dominic’s Church
The West Coast of Šibenik is adorned with a Renaissance-Gothic church of St. Dominic. Until 1910 it was a Renaissance building, but then it took on some Gothic style characteristics. The Church of St. Dominic was built on the site of an older church in 1500, and was later reconstructed. The Renaissance portal was all that was preserved. Inside the church there are: the tomb of the Bishop Arrigonio from Šibenik, an organ that was built in 1818 by the craftsman Gaetano Macatelli and two valuable wooden altars, which date from the 16th century. In the past, next to the church there was a Dominican monastery which was later demolished by bombing, as well as the bell tower, which was later restored.
