The smallest municipality in Istria features the most unusual town of this region, Sveti Petar u Šumi. Unlike other towns and villages of Istria, the houses in this particular town are scattered all over, while in the town’s center the Baroque Church of St. Peter and Paul is located. In front of the church there is a monasteries market, where the Supetar fragment was found, one of the oldest Glagolitic stone inscriptions. The church contains a painting of Our Lady, which is called miraculous because of the images and statements from the Christmas Eve of 1721, when the image wept.
