The Croatian National Theatre
The Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik is the successor of the former Šibenik Theatre, which was founded in 1870. The building of the Šibenik Theatre was, at that time, voted one of the most beautiful and monumental Croatian buildings. Before the current building was built, performances were held at a number of locations throughout the city: in Dobrić, in the Duke’s Palace and in the „Old Theatre“ which was located in the former building. The ceiling above the stage is of special value. In 1868 the artist Antun Zuccaro decorated the ceiling with allegoric imagery of renowned Šibenik residents.
