Osijek can be proud of the fact that it is among the first to put a tram on the market. The Osijek network is the only Croatian tram system still in existence outside Zagreb. Services have operated continuously since the first horse-car tram line was opened in 1884 (connecting the railway station and city square), and the first electric tram ran in 1926. Today there are four trams connecting different city districts. Belgrade, Sofia, Zagreb, Bratislava and Sarajevo opened its tram systems 3 months after Osijek. In addition, it is also possible to take a ride on the authentic tram from 1926. Although the first trams in Osijek were red and white, today they are white and blue.
