The Bishop’s Treasury Museum
The treasury keeps numerous exhibits which bear witness to the turbulent history of the island of Korčula and Dalmatia. There you can find valuable images of Renaissance Italian painters from the 16th century, Baroque paintings from the 17th and 18th century and the polyptych depicting Madonna with Saints from 1431, which is the work of master Blaž Jurjev Trogiranin. The museum also keeps Italian-Cretan icons from the 16th and 17th century painted on wooden panels. The works of famous Croatian painters represent the Croatian painting of the 19th and 20th century. Apart from the paintings by Italian Renaissance artists, there is also a collection of architectural drawings and sculptures from the 17th century. The treasury keeps sculptures of Fran Kršinić and Ivan Meštrović and alabaster reliefs from the 15th and 16th century. There is a rich numismatic collection, a variety of tablets, medals, vestments, dishes and other everyday items. The museum also features a lapidary showing items from the sunken Roman galleys and Byzantine ships.
