Roberto Visiani Park

Roberto de Visiani was a famous Croatian poet, philosopher and one of the pioneers of modern Italian botany. He was born in Šibenik in 1880, and the people of Šibenik dedicated this park to him. The park changed its name several times throughout history – initially it was named after Nikola Tommaseo, then Vladimir Nazor and Maxim Gorky. The park consists of the upper, lower and middle part, and the distance between the lower and the upper part is almost 10 meters. Roberto de Visiani is known for his work “Flora Dalmatica” in which he elaborated 2200 plant species. Also, he found the endemic plant Dalmatian Bellflower, and Visianijeva modričica and Vizijanijev vrisak were named after him.
