Krapina is a town in Zagorje filled with rich historical heritage ever since the settlement of prehistoric humans near Hušnjakovo hill. Some of the famous Croats were born in Krapina, such as Ljudevit Gaj, Marija Jurić Zagorka, August Šenoa, etc. Krapina is most known for its Neanderthal men of Krapina museum, but it also many forts, such as those of king Ludovik I, king Matijaš Korvin, count Herman II. of Celje, ban Vitovac and others.
