Lumbarda info (Korčula island)

Lumbarda is located in the south-eastern part of the island. It is about 6 kilometres away from the town of Korčula, to which it is connected by a road leading through an olive and pine forest. For centuries it was the countryside residency of Korčula’s nobles and clergy. In the past, the locals of Lumbarda engaged in fishing, viticulture and stone masonry, and recently tourism. The beauty of the landscape, the pleasant climate and the attractive beaches attract many tourists from Croatia and foreign countries. Near Lumbarda there is a small archipelago which consists of about twenty islets, including Badija and Vrnik. Apart from the numerous rocky and sandy beaches located in the vicinity of Lumbarda, in the village itself there are two attractive beaches: Bilin žal and Vela Pržina. The age and population of Lumbarda is evidenced by the archaeological remains, old castles, chapels and churches.
