Antun Gustav Matoš
Antun Gustav Matoš
While strolling the Strossmayer promenade, you will come across Antun Gustav Matoš, one of the most famous Croatian writers, whose statue sits on a bench beside the Promenade. Although he was not born in Zagreb, Matoš was strongly attached to this city, which dedicated this monument to him. Unlike the others, this sculpture gives an honest impression of his real life. Living a bohemian life, he was often lonely, so he found company in his works. Matoš will be happy to let you sit beside him and soak in the view of central Zagreb in his company.
