Rovinj Aquarium is one of the tourist attractions of the city. Opened in 1891 as Zoological Station Berlin Aquarium and belongs to the oldest institutions of its kind in the world with a long tradition of 115 years. The aquarium, which is part of the Center for Marine Research RBI, there are numerous examples of local flora and fauna that evokes typical communities that live in our undersea world, particularly seabed of the Istrian peninsula and the northern Adriatic. Wigs, various algae, sea anemones, crabs and shrimps, snails, and then the stars, groupers, dentex, crows, octopuses and lobsters are some of the examples that can be seen during a visit to the aquarium.
