Archaeological Museum (Old town Tvrđa, Osijek)
The Main Guard Building was built in the first half of the 18th century for the needs of the Tvrđa military guard. On the facade is the balcony which was used for monitoring the territory and raising alarm. Today, the building houses the Archaeological Museum Osijek. The Museum itself is much younger – it was founded ten years ago, in April 2005. Within the Museum is the Brožan house, which is intended for workshops. The Museum occupies nearly 1000 m² of exhibition space, and is intended primarily for excavations and research, which makes it one of a kind in Slavonia and Eastern Croatian. In addition, the Museum also contains two halls for various cultural events.
