Faucet Karača and Belavista Square (Herceg Novi-Montenegro)
Faucet (česma) Karača was one of the most important sources of drinkable water in Herceg Novi, and is today yet another legacy of Turkish rule between the 16th and 17th century in this city. The Turks realized that it was important that during the long military siege of the city that the city has a source of drinkable water, and for that purpose česma Karača was made. There is a note that during the Venetian siege of Herceg Novi in 1687 the Venetians noticed that Turkish military crews came to this source for the water beneath the fortifications, so the Venetians tried to close the sping of fresh water. It is located in the Old town on so called Belavista Square. In this square there is also the Church of St Michael Archangel, which Rabbit recommend You to visit, and there are also several restaurants and cafés.
