Benedictine monastery
Church and Benedictine monastery
The Benedictine monastery is located next to the Church of St. Mary. The church, which is believed to have kept its original appearance throughout the centuries, was mentioned in the will of Cecilia Valpova from 1348. The altar of the Italian master Sebastian Petrucci from Rijeka was set up in 1780, which was a baroque to the church. In the beginning the monastery accepted only Christian women of noble status, but was later opened to all those who wished to ordain. Although there were no more nuns in the monastery in the 17th century, the church and monastery are still in use.
