The Capuchin church and the monastery were built in the eponymous street, and its land was a gift from Ivan Jakov von Eggendorff. The monastery was built in 1710, and then the church whose patron saint is Apostle St. James. The church was consecrated by Petar Bakić. The Austro – Hungarian Province was the owner of the property until the early 20th century, and in the second half of the century it became the seminary whose foundations rest in the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi. The Capuchin priestly order was founded by Rafael and Ljudevit from Fossobrone and Matej from Bascio, who desired to live the life of Francis of Assisi – material wealth gives way to spiritual wealth, preaching, education, an exemplary way of life.
