Casoni Vecchi fort
Casoni Vecchi fort was built in 1853. It is ring-shaped, and its primary function was to protect the city from sea attacks. The fortress had 16 casemates, two movable bridges, a fighting area, and a surrounding ravine. After the reorganization, the fort has lost its meaning and became a barracks without strong arms. On reorganized concrete elements, one can find signatures of made by soldiers in 1890. The Fortress was for a time the airline target of the attack of Italy, and at the time of the Second World War, German soldiers used it as an observation post. The Yugoslav army used it up to 1960, and since that time the Fortress has been used in the electric power industry.
