Chapel of St. Martin
Chapel of St. Martin
In Vrbnik you can see two beautiful chapels – the chapel of St. Anthony of Padua and the chapel of St. Martin. The chapel of St. Martin is located in front of the former city gates, dating from 1561. On the side wall of the chapel there is a Glagolitic inscription that says that the chapel was built by the priest Martin Vitezić. The chapel of St. Martin was restored in 1891 by Dr. Dinko Vitezić. He was a representative of the Croatian people in the Imperial Council and because of his credits he was buried in this very chapel. On the front, above the door, there is another Glagolitic tablet by Vatroslav Jagić, which was made his tombstone in 1904.
