Church of St. George
St. George is the patron of a number of countries, such as Portugal, Armenia, England, Lithuania and many cities, such as Genoa, Senj, Lovran and Barcelona. Also, St. George is the patron saint of knights and crusaders, as well as domestic animals, crops, farmers, land and shepherds. St. George is advocated during diseases, such as fever and plague as well as during war danger. In Croatia, St. George is celebrated on April 23rd , the date when princes had been elected. The church of St. George is small with wooden benches and a central altar. It is located in the town of Cres, on the island of Cres.
