Church of St. George
Church of St. George
Saint George is the patron saint of Pag and the island of Pag. The church of St. George is located in the northern part of the town of Pag. Its construction began in the 15th century, as part of the defensive wall, according to the designs of Juraj Dalmatian. It extends in the 16th century when it gets its renaissance facade. The church is two-aisled with a rectangular apse and cylindrical vault. The church has Romanesque elements in the appearance of its portals, Gothic elements in its windows, and Renaissance elements in the appearance of its facade. Except for liturgical celebrations, the church is also used as a space for exhibitions.
