Church of St Mihail
Church of St Mihail (Kotor-Montenegro)
The Church of St Mihail was mentioned for the first time in 1116 when it was devoted and attended by the Kotoran Abbey, which was then part of the Benedictine Abbey. The church is located in the central part of the Old town Kotor. According to confirmed archaeological remains, it was found to be on the grounds of older and larger building. Today’s construction dates back to the end of the 14th or the beginning of the 15th century, which can be inferred from the inscriptions on the walls. After the earthquake that struck Montenegro, the church was restored. Today, inside the church there is the Lapidarium Museum where You can take a look at a rich collection of stone monuments. The entrance is charged.
