Church of St Sava (Budva-Montenegro)
The church of St Sava is located close to the church of Santa Maria in Punta and the summer stage in the southwestern part of the Old Town. It was built in 1141 in honor of St Sava, one of the great founders and promoters of the monks’ way of life in the EaSt The recent restoration has revealed traces of frescos that make this church even more exemplary representation of the Budva’s Medieval. During the history of Venetian and Austrian desolations, the church’s most valuable assets have disappeared from the church, and today there is almost no trace of old sculptures, icons and frescoes. During the Canadian war in the mid-17th century, church prayers were held together by Catholics and Orthodox Christians who were then oppressed by the Venetians.
