Citadel and the remains of Santa Maria Church (Budva-Montenegro)
The Citadel city fortress is one of the few historical examples of a layered facility in the Montenegrin Coast. It is a medieval fortress within the Old Town, and the remains of the foundations of the church of Santa Maria de Castello dating from the time of Nemanjić and Balšić are situated in the fortress. The Citadel was first mentioned in 1425, and it nowadays becomes a center of cultural life that includes theater, music and dance performances in the warmer months. You can climb to the high walls of the Citadel that stretch high above the sea from where You will have a beautiful view of the entire Old Town and the island of St. Nicholas (Hawaii). At the top of the Citadel You have a restaurant with a viewpoint where You can enjoy the magical view along with a tasty bite.
